Storage & Child Access
What does the guide say about a toddler's ability to pull a trigger?
Answer
A toddler's thumb has twice the strength of the other fingers and can push the trigger
Never assume that because a toddler may lack finger strength they can't pull the trigger. A child's thumb has twice the strength of the other fingers, and when a toddler's thumb pushes against a trigger the barrel is invariably pointing at the child's face.

Not the answer
- A toddler's hands are too small to reach the trigger inside the trigger guard
- A toddler's index finger can pull the trigger only on a single-action revolver
- A toddler's fingers lack the strength to pull the trigger, so the risk is small
