How do you work alligation, days supply, and IV drip-rate problems for the pharmacy technician exam?
- Seven calculation families: conversions (the metric ladder, household spoons, pounds to kilograms), dosage (desired over have times quantity, and mg/kg), days supply for tablets, liquids and unit-dosed injectables, concentration (percent and ratio strength both directions, plus mg/mL), dilutions (C1 × V1 = C2 × V2), alligation alternate with the X drawn from your own numbers, and IV rates (mL/hr, infusion time, gtt/min)
- Two levels: Foundations keeps it single-step with clean numbers, Exam is multi-step — ratio strength, mg/kg from a weight in pounds, drip rates, and adding diluent
- Practice is untimed and endless, and you type the answer on the app's own keypad, the way you would work it on paper; Test is a fixed, scored run of 5 to 30 problems answered by choosing, the way the exam asks
- The Readiness tab holds your exam date and the days left, and fills one graduated cylinder per family to your real accuracy against a 90% line, with the attempt count printed beside it and each family's trend since the day you set your date
What it is
Pharmacy technician math, drilled one problem at a time until you can pass it. Alligation, days supply, IV drip rates, dosage conversions and percentage strengths, graded on the spot, with the full worked solution every time. Problems are generated fresh from parameterized templates rather than a stored bank, so there is nothing to memorize, and each one's answer is checked against an independent formula before you ever see it.
Why we built it
These are the calculations on the certification exam and in every pharmacy-tech program, and the way people fail them is by half-remembering a worked example instead of the method. So every answer opens the same thing: your number and the correct number side by side, then the governing formula in plain English, then the numbered steps with the units carried and cancelled, closing on the inverse check the answer was verified against. A study aid for practising calculation math, not affiliated with or endorsed by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, and not medical or dosing advice.
