14 CFR 43.15(c) requires each person performing a 100-hour or annual inspection to use a checklist while doing so, and that checklist must include at least the scope and detail of the items in Appendix D to Part 43. The rule expressly allows the checklist to be of the person's own design, provided by the manufacturer, or from another acceptable source, so it need not come from the FAA. Test-pilot signatures and full parts-catalog listings are not required and are fabricated distractors.
