Which condition would prompt a non-convective SIGMET rather than an AIRMET?
Answer
Severe icing
AC 00-45H lists severe or greater turbulence, severe icing, widespread duststorm, widespread sandstorm, and volcanic ash as the non-convective SIGMET criteria. IFR ceilings, moderate turbulence, and non-convective low-level wind shear potential are AIRMET criteria.
