How do you calculate your FERS retirement annuity?
Your FERS basic annuity is your high-3 average salary × a multiplier × your years of creditable service — 1.0% per year, or 1.1% per year if you retire at age 62 or later with at least 20 years of service. Unused sick leave adds to your service length (2,087 hours = one year of credit), retiring before 62 under the MRA+10 rule reduces the annuity 5% for each year you are under 62, and electing a survivor annuity reduces your own by 5% (25% survivor) or 10% (50% survivor). Your minimum retirement age runs from 55 to 57 depending on birth year, and that plus your years of service determines which eligibility rule — 62/5, 60/20, MRA/30, or MRA+10 — you meet.

$0 /mo
30/40 × your $0 SS estimate. Bridges you to 62, then stops; subject to an earnings test.
Unofficial estimate — not affiliated with OPM or any U.S. government agency. Figures are computed from published OPM rules (MRA table, 1.0%/1.1% multipliers, 2,087-hour sick-leave conversion, MRA+10 and survivor reductions) and exclude cost-of-living adjustments, so real long-term annuities are typically a bit higher. Your actual annuity is computed by OPM from your official record — always confirm with your agency HR or benefits office before making decisions.

What it is
FERS Calc estimates a federal employee's retirement annuity under the Federal Employees Retirement System. Enter your birth year, high-3 salary, service, and sick leave and see your monthly annuity with every step of the arithmetic shown, plus which eligibility rule you hit and your soonest unreduced date.
Why we built it
About two million FERS employees plan their retirement against dated web forms and spreadsheets. The exact math, MRA table, the 1.0 versus 1.1 percent multiplier, sick-leave credit, survivor elections, the annuity supplement, is public but scattered and easy to get wrong. The gap was a modern, offline estimator that computes from published OPM rules and shows its work, clearly unofficial.
