How you book

• Finish the 3-day course first. After you do, you get an email from PSI Testing Services with a link to register for the exam. [TLC licensing education]
• PSI uses the email address on your TLC application. [TLC licensing education]
• You choose the language when you book: English, Bengali, Urdu, Simple Chinese, Russian, Arabic or Spanish. [PSI candidate bulletin]

Fee, cancelling and retakes

• You may cancel or reschedule up until 2 days before the appointment at no extra cost. [PSI candidate bulletin]
• You lose the $49 if you do not cancel at least 2 days before, do not appear, arrive after the start time, or do not present proper identification. [PSI candidate bulletin]
• You may take the exam as many times as you like until your TLC application expires, and you must wait 24 hours before taking it again. [PSI candidate bulletin]

The day

• Bring your state-issued DMV driver license to be let into the exam room. [TLC licensing education] It must match the name you registered under, have your photo and not be expired. [PSI candidate bulletin]
• Complete a TLC Sign-in Registration Form at the test center before the exam. [TLC licensing education]
• Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. [PSI candidate bulletin]
• Put your personal belongings in the secure storage at the site before you enter the exam room. People who come with you may not wait in the exam center, inside the building or on its property. [PSI candidate bulletin]
• PSI provides an atlas, a Manhattan Address Key, paper and a pencil or pen, and does not allow calculators. You may leave the exam room only to use the restroom with the proctor’s permission, and the bulletin also says you are not allowed to take a break while testing, so count on staying seated.
