When handling claim funds, an adjuster should:

Answer

Account for and handle the funds honestly as directed

A license holder who has 'misappropriated, converted to the applicant's or license holder's own use, or illegally withheld money belonging to' an insurer or an insured may be disciplined or denied a license.

Not the answer

  • Keep any unclaimed amounts for themselves
  • Delay payment in order to earn interest on the money
  • Deposit the claim funds in the adjuster's own personal bank account
