When a type-certificated aircraft is sold, which maintenance record must the seller transfer to the new owner?

The current status of each life-limited part and the current status of applicable Airworthiness Directives
14 CFR 91.419 requires the 91.417(a)(2) records to be transferred with the aircraft at the time of sale: total time in service, current status of life-limited parts, time since last overhaul of items requiring overhaul, current inspection status, and current AD status (method of compliance, AD number, revision date), plus Form 337s for major alterations. A lone annual sign-off, private notes, or a full set of Service Bulletins are not the records the rule requires to transfer.
