Florida's property insurance mediation program under §627.7015 is AVAILABLE for which dispute?
Answer
A $6,000 disputed homeowners claim for wind damage to the dwelling
Fla. Stat. §627.7015(1): the program covers claims 'under personal lines and commercial residential policies' but 'does not apply to commercial coverages, to private passenger motor vehicle insurance coverages, or to disputes relating to liability coverages in policies of property insurance.' §627.7015(9)(d) excludes disputes where 'the amount in controversy is less than $500, unless the parties agree to mediate a dispute involving a lesser amount.' The insurer bears the cost of mediation ((3)), and a policyholder may rescind a mediated settlement within 3 business days unless a settlement check has been cashed or deposited ((6)(a)).
